What work has he done?
As a scientific illustrator, Salgado makes illustrations for both the public and the scientific community by hand.
All of his work is drawn and coloured in by hand in his home workshop, with scientific accuracy. He has been doing it for about 30 years and has become an internationally-recoginsed expert in the field.
In Portugal some of his most outstanding work are the illustrations for the official opening of the Lisbon Oceanarium and the World Fair Expo '98 official calendar.

Both of these were major events in the contemporaneous history of the country which celebrated sealife and projected it in the international community.
His work has won first place awards in several world-class exhibits with the World Congress of Biomedical Communications and the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators.
With dozens of other exhibits, contributions and published work (including National Geographic) he has gained a revered reputation in the industry.
